SALT LAKE CITY (March 3, 2017) – The Salt Lake City Stars will host Military Appreciation Week, March 8-11, to honor and recognize members of the United States Armed Forces for their service.
The Stars will wear commemorative camouflage jerseys for their three home games against the Fort Wayne Mad Ants (3/8), Raptors 905 (3/10) and Sioux Falls Skyforce (3/11), with a patch recognizing the George E. Whalen Veterans Affairs Medical Center on the sides of the jerseys and shorts.
“We are proud to honor our nation’s heroes at these three games,” said Stars General Manager Bart Sharp. “Military Appreciation Week is just one small way we can show our gratitude to these men and women for the sacrifices they make to serve our country.”
Active military members and veterans can receive up to four (4) free tickets to one of the games during Military Appreciation Week via nominations to firstname.lastname@example.org. Local organizations have also purchased tickets which will be donated to Hill Air Force Base, Camp Williams, the National Guard and other military organizations.
Other activities for the week include a color guard, re-enlistment ceremony, in-game recognition of veterans and military members, as well as special ‘thank you’ messages from the Stars organization that will be shown on the video board during the game.
All three games are sold out, but can be seen on Facebook Live beginning at 7 p.m. each night.
